Kim Ho-deuk has been exploring the darkness and depth of ink for a long time. He interprets traditional ink using audacious forms as he makes dashes with a stroke of his brush. Drawing the motifs of his works from nature, he explores “life” itself and tries to engender inner energy using the light and shade of ink.
Born in Daegu, Kim Ho-deuk graduated from the Korean painting department at Seoul National University and completed a master’s course in Oriental painting at the same university. He has held more than 30 solo shows at Hakgojae, Kumho Museum of Art, Ilmin Museum of Art including his first exhibition at kwanhoon Gallery. His works are presently housed in the MMCA, Daejon Museum of Art, Daegu Art Museum, and Hoam Museum.
